When buying terminal tackle it is always worth buying the most tried and tested products available, go with the brands that have been around a while and that are known, there would be nothing worse than using cheap carp hooks then for the hook to open up at the last minute and lose your prized catch.

Good presentation will always put more carp on the bank so using a decent hooklink that matches the colour of your local pond with small amounts of putty or korda sinkers placed along the hooklink at intervals to keep it all pinned down. Another great technique to help keep mainline out the way is the use of leaders and flying backleads.

Remember carp safety is paramount and should be your number one concern, the use of lead clips that will drop the lead on a take and in most circumstances bring the carp to the surface away from debris and weed. Just remember when setting up the only thing left that would be left if you were to snap off is the hooklength which a carp will be easily able to dislodge after time.
