    Default Tangles

Every time i cast out whether it be just in the margin i always 7/10 i retrieve it and my braid hook link is tangles around my lead.

I gather this is because my braid i rather supple is there any way i can prevent it other than using heavy mono and stiff coated braid?

    thanks,
    Adam.

    Hello Adam,

What kind of lead arrangement are you using, semi-fixed? inline? etc..

I use supple hooklinks on occasion, something i do with 90% of my fishing is to thread my hooklink through a PVA stick using a long baiting needle then with a quick link attach it back to mainline on a swivel. This really does help to eliminate tangles.

It would also be wise once cast out, to feather the spool just before the lead hits the water, this will push the hooklink out infront seperating the two that bit better.

There are various other things you can do such as putting silicon sleeves over swivels and quick links just to remove that extra piece that can snag line.

    Thanks, Darren.

Thanks i was typing with the idea of putting a pva bag on my hook link and most of my rigs havent got silicone tubing over the swivel so thanks.
I will put some silicone tubing over them.

O yeah it is a safety clip rig that i use.

    Thanks,
    Adam.

    Hello Adam,

Do you use silicone tubing on the mainline which fits into the tail rubber of the lead clip? Also what size hooklink are you using?

    Thanks, Darren.

I have around a 6-7 inch 12lb braid hook link with a size 6 esp raptor hook with silicone tubing (pop-up rigs=shorter hooklinks).
and i have a tail rubber that goes over the lead clip.
I think it may just be that i havent got a silicone tube around my swivel on my hooklink.

    try korum quick clips
They come with silicon tubing to cover the clip also, and lead core may present the bait on the bottom neatly and prevent tangling.
