Well arriving at Cottington not knowing what the hell to expect and who i was fishing with or against, Turned up at about 10:10am for the draw. Lucky enough there was one other fella who partner let him down so i doubled up with him. Ben was his name. I hadnt brought my fishing gear with me cause i planned on just fishing saturday through till sunday due to some personal reasons.
But when i got drawn out with Ben on peg 7-8 i think it was i had to go get my stuff, i felt good about it and just did it. So i drove back home and back to Cottington in a flash.
Once all setup i was just fishing to 2 rods as rules state, one out in front against the reeds on the margin and one in the mouth of the new lake near a nice bush. All on semi bolt rigs and size 10 korda wide gape 14mm Bollie topped with red corn.
About 2 hours into the competition i had a odd take beep beep beep nothing more and it stayed there. Struck into it and sure enough i had a fish on. The fish didnt fight it just sat at back until i got in front of it and basicly dragged it in like a sack of spuds.. Weighed in at 24.5lb mirror nice markins.....

Well i had to stop fishing at 5:30pm and head of to the Graduation dinner for my sister and take a friend to Gatwick in the morning.
(Trip to gatwick i nearly never made it back. Slid side ways down M23 about 20meters and nearly ended up as sandwich filler, lucky enough i managed to get control and make it back to the comp)
I arrived back at the lake Saturday about 9:30 ish and got my rods back out asap. Ben had had nothing all night apart from some bleeps hear and there and no one else had any thing.
The whole day passed before we knew it the sun was down and it was dark and bitter again no more runs or really any sign of any thing. Trying every thing you can think of and nothing really working, Ben was working really to catch a fish up early the next morning changing and trying to find some fish. Me mind you was still tucked up in nice warm sleeping back lol till about 8:30am (lazy i know)..
I came out to the old part of the lake frozen up until our swims and the new part under ice too. Lucky enough our part was ice free apart from some in the margins. So i re-baited and carried on the search for the fish. Nothing for me but Ben was still going at it hard changing and moving the baits around. At about 11am ish i was packin away my bivvy and things and i could hear an alarm screaming came out to find Ben temp away from rods, so i went over and bent into this fish. Felt good and was pulling hard, i waited for Ben to get back and he took the fight over. the fish gave a good account of its self and scrapped like crazy Ben eventually got it over the net and on the mat. Nice Mirror weighing in at 19lb on the dot, very very nice fish mate

After all that the match was over and the only 2 fish caught was from myself and Ben. A nice way to finish with both partys of the team getting a fish. We scooped a nice 5kilo of bait from PB and a 24hour ticket from Cottington, also i scooped big fish and got a nice Orange Fish Pillow from Goldfrog (Carp | Carp Fishing | Carp Fishing Tackle)
Big thank you to Aarron for getting this together and i hope we can all fish together again, Ben we will have to fish together on next one and retain the title lol...
